Cloudy, Dull Water Filter unable to remove small particles Use Clean Sweep™ flocculent to coagulate small, non-filterable particles to the bottom of pool for easy vacuum removal.  Use Dazzle™ liquid blue clarifier as preventative maintenance.
Filter may need to be cleaned Check that filter is operating properly. Clean filter to remove hardened deposits from cartridge, sand or D.E. filters. Circulate filter 6 hours daily (preferably two times per day) and backwash regularly. Use Dazzle™ liquid blue clarifier to brighten water.
Excessive organic contaminants in water due to suntan lotions, body oils, etc. Add Presto™ natural enzyme cleaner. Use Presto™ natural enzyme cleaner after heavy bather use.
pH too high  Test your pH and total alkalinity with Checkmate™ 4-way test strips and add Pool Logic® pH down as needed. Test pool water weekly with Checkmate™ 4-way test strips and make sure pH level is from 7.2 - 7.6.
Low (Free) Available Chlorine Shock Treat pool with Glisten™ Non-Chlorine shock to remove contaminants that cause skin and eye irritations. Add Glisten™ non-chlorine shock to your preventative pool maintenance schedule.
High concentration of dissolved metals in water. Add Stain Guard™ or Super Stain Guard™ to pool water. Use Stain Guard™ on a regular basis to prevent the buildup of dissolved metals that can cause staining.

Cloudy, Green
Water
Green Algae Check that filter is running properly. Clean filter with Filter Rejuvenator™.Add Simple Solution™ to kill algae. Add Clean Sweep™ flocculent to drop small, non-filterable algae particles to the bottom of pool for easy vacuum removal. Use Devour™ in your weekly maintenance schedule. Maintain Free (Available) Chlorine level at 1-3ppm.

Black and/or Dark Green Spots Black Algae Check that filter is circulating properly. Clean filter with Filter Rejuvenator™.Brush black spots thoroughly. Continue to brush algae spots daily until spots are gone. Add Clear Solution™ to kill black algae. Add Clean Sweep™ flocculent to drop small, non-filterable algae particles to the bottom of pool for easy vacuum removal. Add Devour™ to your weekly maintenance schedule. Maintain Free (Available) Chlorine level at 1-3ppm.

Yellow Slime Yellow Algae Check that filter is circulating properly. Clean filter with Filter Rejuvenator™. Brush the affected areas. Add Yellow Solution™ to remove yellow algae deposits. Add Clean Sweep™ flocculent to drop small, non-filterable algae particles to the bottom of pool for easy vacuum removal. Add Devour™ to your preventative maintenance schedule. Maintain Free (Available) Chlorine level at 1-3 ppm.

Reddish Brown Colored Water Too much iron or manganese in water. Add Stain Guard™ to control the buildup of metals in water. In extreme cases, use Super Stain Guard™. Add Stain Guard™ to your preventative maintenance schedule.

Clear, Green Water Too much copper in water. Add Stain Guard™ to control the buildup of metals in pool water. In extreme cases, use Super Stain Guard™. Check pH and Total Alkalinity ranges with Checkmate™ 4-way test strips. Add Pool Logic® pH up or pH down until pH level is form 7.2 to 7.6. Add Stain Guard™ to your weekly maintenance schedule.

Rust and/or Stains Excessive amount of dissolved metals in pool water Use No Sweat™ to remove current stains. Add Stain Guard™ to your weekly maintenance schedule.
Pool water is unbalanced Use Checkmate™ 4-way test strips to check the pH and Total Alkalinity levels of pool water. Add Pool Logic® pH up, pH down or Alkalinity Up to bring the pH level to 7.2 to 7.6. Use Checkmate™ 4-way test strips on a weekly basis to maintain proper pH levels.

Calcium and/or Scale Deposits pH or alkalinity levels are too high Use Checkmate™ 4-way test strips to determine pH level and add Pool Logic® pH up or pH down as needed to bring pH level from 7.2 to 7.6. Add Stain Guard™ to your preventative maintenance schedule to prevent stain and scale formation.
Calcium content too high in pool Dilute pool water with water of a lower calcium hardness. Add Stain Guard™ or Super Stain Guard™ according to instructions.  Add Stain Guard™ to your preventative maintenance schedule to prevent stain and scale formation.

Skin and eye irritation Combined chlorine level is too high Add Glisten™ non-chlorine shock to pool according to instructions. Use Checkmate™ 4-way test strips to assure chlorine level is from 1-3 ppm. Use Checkmate™ 4-way test strips on a weekly basis to maintain consistent water levels.
pH level is too high or too low Use Checkmate™ 4-way test strips to determine pH level. Add Pool Logic® pH up or pH down to assure pH level is form 7.2 to 7.6. Use Checkmate™ 4-way test strips on a weekly basis to maintain consistent water levels.

Strong Chlorine
Odor
High levels of chloramines in water. Add Glisten™ non-chlorine shock to pool. Use Checkmate™ 4-way test strips to assure chlorine level is from 1-3 ppm. Use Checkmate™ 4-way test strips on a weekly basis to maintain consistent water levels.

Scum and Odors Excessive organic contaminants in water due to suntan lotion, body oils, etc. Add Presto™ natural enzyme cleaner to remove organic contaminants. Use Gleam™ tile cleaner to remove scum line caused by organic contaminants. All swimmers should shower prior to entering the pool. Shock treat the pool with Glisten™ non-chlorine shock on a weekly basis. Add Presto™ to your regular maintenance schedule.
