Opening Your Pool
Day 1
-
Remove excess debris from cover
surface. Clean and condition cover with Recover™ cover cleaner
before storing in a cool, dry place.
- Take a sample of the water
used to fill your pool to your nearest Pool Logic®
retailer for testing. Make sure the water container used is clean
and free of other contaminants. Testing the water will give you the
knowledge of what mineral and chemical conditions need attention.
Add water until pool water level is approximately at the middle of
skimmer or the proper level recommended by the manufacturer.
- Clean filter with Pool
Logic® Filter Rejuvenator™ to remove hardened deposits.
For best results, soak filter overnight.
- To prevent stain and scale
formation caused by unbalanced water, add Stain Guard™ (16
oz./10,000 gallons).
- Once the pool is filled,
add Dazzle™ (2 oz./ 10,000 gallons) to clear water of small
particles. Start the pump and filtration equipment. Run pool filter
overnight for 24 hours. While filter is running, vacuum to remove
any debris from pool.
Day
2
- Add Glisten™ (1 lb./ 10,000
gallons) non-chlorine shock treatment to destroy any build up of
contaminants that have accumulated in the water.
- Test the pH and total
alkalinity level of the pool with Checkmate™ 4-way test strips. pH
levels should be from 7.2 to 7.6. Add Pool Logic® pH Up
or pH Down to adjust pH level in ideal range. Alkalinity levels
should be between 80-120ppm (parts per million).
- Now begin disinfecting the
water by adding Pool Logic® chlorine or bromine
sanitizers. Adjust sanitizer to an ideal range of 1-3ppm. Allow
chemicals to circulate overnight.
Day 3
- Prevent rapid loss of
chlorine due to sunlight by adding Pool Logic® stabilizer
(not applicable for pools sanitized with bromine). Follow label
instructions.
- Add Devour™ (16 oz./ 10,000
gallons) to prevent and destroy all types of algae growth.
- Continue to test pool water
every 24 hours with Checkmate™ 4-way test strips for the first week
after opening.
For your convenience, use a
Pool Logic® Opening Kit complete with Glisten™ non-chlorine
shock treatment, Devour™, Dazzle™ and Stain Guard™.
Please note:
Be sure to only add ONE chemical at a time and allow time for each
chemical to circulate before adding another.
